Case Study

Allianz Group

When a large oil leak caused Allianz Global Investors to put their disaster recovery and business continuity plan to the test, they turned to AlertFind.

About Allianz Group

A member of the Allianz Group and a financial services leader, Allianz Global Investors provides access to specialized equity and fixed-income expertise to affiliated institutional investment firms. The employees in their Stamford, CT office manage billions of dollars in investments every day.

The Crisis

It was business as usual on this particular Monday, until a pipe burst at a neighboring building. 30,000 gallons of home heating oil spilled from the burst pipe, forcing an emergency evacuation. The employees were required to leave the office immediately, with no additional information about when and how operations would resume.

The Response

The Allianz management team sprang into action. They assembled an Emergency Response Committee made up of both senior and regional leaders. The committee used AlertFind emergency notifications to organize conference calls, create contingency plans and reassign the call center staff. AlertFind enabled seamless communication that kept all employees up to date and the business on track. The Allianz Group relied on AlertFind to oversee the safety, business operations and administration of 190 employees impacted by the huge oil leak. Allianz Vice President Frank Garofalo said, “AlertFind is probably one of the best values an IT director can find today – a fraction of what we would have expected to pay to cover 1,600 employees nationwide.”
